Locals Only… Vintage Z-BOYS
Short Film Now Showing!

The best sunsets I have ever seen were in Venice Beach during the 70’s. Growing up as a local, the beach and all of the weirdos on it acted as our parents. When I was young I had heros – they were long-haired, pot-smoking skateboarders that all hung out at the breakwater. The world would come to know these humans as the Z-BOYS, but to us they were our older homies who taught us how to skate and looked after us on the boardwalk. Today I found a video of the original Z-BOYS opening a skate park in 1979, and watching it gave me the chills. I could not help but laugh at some of the music in the video, but the skating is fucking gnarly. To all of the living legends, and to all of the Venice ghosts: without you, there would be no me…Venice locals for life! After the jump check out 14 minutes of real Dogtown skating.
