When did I know that Wu-tang Clan was going to be the shit? I guess it happened when all they had out was their first twelve inch with Protect Ya Neck, and it was played no less than 20 times at a backyard party I was at in 1993. When I saw the grimy video for “Protect Ya Neck” I knew this group was on some next level styles that I could relate to. My homie Bigga B, who promoted the underground hip hop party Unity, was the person that brought Wu-tang to Los Angeles for their first west coast tour. The sickest time I ever got to see them live was at this spot without a stage; the Wu tang Clan formed a circle and passed two mics around trading bombastic verse after verse. They were more than just changing the game – this group brought something totally new to hip hop. They were a great example that there is strength in numbers, and after they released Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the rest was a wrap!
