Blackened Crust

When Slime Ruled the Earth:
Entire Remastered SKAVEN Discography Released – Full Stream

Along with Dystopia, Stormcrow, Neurosis, and Noothgrush, SKAVEN (who’s guitarist Geoff Evans later formed the mighty Asunder) where the rostrum of Bay Area crust back in the 90’s. In its short existence, this band released only handful of splits, which – after their quick and silent demise – have slowly but surely become legendary releases in the underground, for the most part completely unfindable and/or out of print. SKAVEN was indeed a power to behold. Their corroded, crippling, desperate and bass-heavy sound has become, throughout the years, some kind of staple blueprint for modern crust bands. Their dual bass attack, unrelenting fury, emaciated vocal delivery and slimy guitar sound has laid the invaluable groundwork for what would become the so called “stench-core” movement that rose to predominance a decade later.

Today, Moshpit Tragedy Records and Skuld Releases presents you with an invaluable release: SKAVEN‘s entire discography, every single song ever recorded by the band, all in one place and remastered. It’s incredible to hear these devastating crust anthems resurface from the unjust sewers of oblivion they were trapped in, restored and blazing of a brand new light, and all contained within one single devastating full-length release. It feels like justice has finally been done to a band and a vision that disappeared way too soon while the rest of the world went to shit. That said, do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this album, for this is undoubtedly the release of the year when it comes to all things crust. R.I.P. SKAVEN, you are immensely missed!
