It has been said that the chains have been taken off of the bodies of the black community, only to be put on their minds. This fact can be seen by the nationwide epidemic of black on black violence. One city that can be considered the murder capital is Chicago, aka “Chiraq,” which saw over 500 violent deaths of black youth in 2012. Out of all of this pain, the city has been a hotbed for up and coming hip hop artists. WSHH has created a new documentary entitled The Field: Chicago that takes an in-depth look at why this place fosters the violence it does. It should be said that CVLT Nation does not condone all of the lyrics or language that you will hear in this film, but we do think it should be watched to help understand a problem that affects us all in some way! At the end of the day, the prison industrial complex loves all of this self-hatred, violence and crime, because it’s good for business!
