Video & Photo Essay

The attack of the super weirdos, or should I say the attack of 45 Grave…this band stood out from the bunch of bands that were around in the early 80’s. They were a good example of a group that had fans from many different tribes: hardcore kids, glam rockers, hollyweird sleaze bags & death rock ghouls. Between them & Christian Death, I would say that they pretty much set off the whole death rock movement, which would later become known as goth. 45 Grave created music from their own planet were no rules existed. I saw this band many times as a teenager & never got bored of them. Dinah Cancer was a rad frontwomen to watch, she had me under her spell every time I saw them. They had Don Bolles, the spazzy drummer, who was also an O.G. member of the GERMS – he was an event to watch all on his own. I know now that being into bands like 45 Grave really opened my mind up to other forms of music besides hardcore, which was a rad thing. No one knew at the time, but this band was blazing a historic trail that can be seen in our musical landscape to this day. So today CVLT Nation has put together a video & photo essay, walking through the graveyard of rock history to see the tombstones that were built by 45 Grave. After the jump, step inside our mausoleum & check out some epic video footage & photos.
