Torso is a d-beat hardcore band from California that rips and thrashes as they play their brand of in-your-face hardcore at a speed that breaks necks and knocks some sense into your skull. The fast pace of the music does not belie the simplicity of music – in fact, quick chord progressions and timing make Torso a very fun band to listen to, and probably more so to see. Lyrically, Torso cover subjects ranging from feminism and religion to political matters and rebellion. They are also a vegan straightedge band if you’re into that. In all honesty, I cannot get enough of this album: the vocals are angry and raspy, striking through the sound of the drums and guitars with a strength of conviction that I respect, and the content rings all too true. At a raging 7 minutes, this album kicks off at a running start and does not slow down. Not once! Which also happens to be the amount of time this album has left in my playlist while I work.
