Chicago’s Bloodiest is a seven member magical musical unit. With their recent release Descent on Relaspe Records, they have created a transcendental masterpiece of American music. How do you describe the beauty of the grand canyon or fog rolling over the vast valleys? It would be hard to express with only words. Bloodiest creates sound from their own vortex in space & time, where sounds take on the shapes and characters of the emotions we all live. On songs like “Pasture” they start off with honest & moving guitar that just builds into to straight haunting Americana ear candy. They compose their lyrics & vocals in a way so they become time machines that allow the listener to travel to different dimensions. This is where I find myself when trying tell you about this band’s rad sound. Every song on Decent has a huge feeling to it, and it seems like this band wants you to think & challenge yourself. Bloodiest’s tapestry of sonic glory has a very old world feel to it but at the same time it’s beyond something new: it’s the Decent.
