A lot of metal fans (and bands) treat harsh vocals as window dressing or an afterthought. I’m not one of those people — I take that shit seriously. Screaming can be emotive and musical. It can also be fucking terrifying, even to people who are used to harsh vocals. These songs inspired me by freaking me out. Not all of them are metal songs, but each of these vocalists left it all on the floor of the vocal booth. Enjoy with the lights turned off.
