SONGS OF DISGUST: DEATHRITE

A few months ago I played a show with my band in Eastern Germany. The main act was some shitty kind of Indie “Punk” band. But the opening act triggered off pure sonic mayhem and left jaws dropping to the squat’s dirty floor. A noisy wall of Hardcore, Grindcore and everything in between was crushing everyone’s ears. I think it was one of the first shows of this band. Its name: DEATHRITE.

Two months later I got a call from a good friend. He asked me to layout the demo tape for DEATHRITE, which he was about to release. He sent me the demo tracks, so I could get an impression. I was absolutely stoked about those tracks and decided not only to do the layout, but to participate in the release. Shortly after the release the tapes were already sold out. You can download the demo for free here. Or better, you fucking should: DEATHRITE Demo MMXI

So I guess you could say DEATHRITE definetely catch the spirit of the age – and that just by playing the music they love. The urgency of Hardcore, the sheer brutality of extreme Metal and the high speed attacks in the vein of your favourite Grindcore bands, all wrapped up by the no-bullshit- and fuck-you-attitude of Punk. Hard, fast, brutal and awesome.
One of Germany’s most credible labels, Per Koro Records (think of bands like ACME or SYSTRAL), is going to release a one sided 12″ with new songs in June this year.

Bang your heads to this, you fucks.
