Songs For Bastards…
ARMADA
Review

All up in your face, all up in your grill, it’s fucking Milwaukee’s Armada who will be releasing a new cassette/cd, Songs For Bastards, via Volatile Recordings (pre-order here!). This band fucking kicks out the jams with the real punk/hardcore fury and plenty of the of that FTW attitude that is a must for music like this. This new bunch of songs put a smile on my face every time I hear them, because they automatically take me back to 1982 Hollywood, when I roamed the streets with my group of punk misfits. Armada is rad as fuck because they are able to channel the spirit of the past, but they do it in a way that is not retro at all. These humans also know how to mix up their sound with the nitro of modern day hardcore, but without the fake macho bullshit! One of the first things that is going to jump out at you is the vocal delivery of the singer – this dude has a an ultra wicked voice that eats away at your eardrums. Then there is the music that is just raw-to-the-bone rocket fuel. When you play their music, and can sit there without head banging, someone should check your pulse because you must be dead! The rad riffage you will encounter on this release will almost choke you with angst and filthy audio dirge. Armada creates short bursts of sonic riot that will take over your reality, but they do all this while maintaing an awesome groove. These dudes are killer songwriters for the fact that they have taken two genres of music and tweaked them into their own version of awesomeness. Armada creates anthems for the forgotten youth of today to live by, and that says a lot for where they are coming from. If they were around in 82, me and me crew would have set the pit off when this band hits the stage. Punk will never die, because we just multiply, and possess other beings bodies and come back to life as a band named Armada.
