Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Hysteria…
Swallowing Swords
Review

Damn I love my rock & rad…you might be asking, what the fuck is that? Well let me tell you. It’s when you take the backbone of a rock & roll skeleton, then put in the body of a crazy ass punk rocker. When you mix it right, these two beings can create some epic fucking music, and one band that has the formula down to a science is L.A’s Swallowing Swords– on their new self-released EP, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Hysteria, they show & prove. This band has that the danger boogie stomp in all of their tunes which makes me want to say, fuck writing a review, I want to headbang & dance at the same time. Anyway, back to the review; the opening track, “Voyage Of The Virgin,” sounds like X being possessed by BLAST. There is no way you could call this just rock & roll, because there is no way to escape this band’s true hardcore roots. When you hear Aaron, their singer, start wailing, his vocal mojo will crucify you. I can’t stop thinking of home cooking when I hear their second song, “Two Birds In A Beard” – let me tell you, those big ass drums seemed like they were soaked in syrup they sound so fucking sweet. Swallowing Swords are extra awesome on the merit of their songwriting skills, and they know when to allow the emotion of the riffs do the talking for them. This band also knows the value of melody that has the power get your braincells dancing all around in your skull. I’m not going to write about every song on their Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Hysteria EP, so you can find out how gnarly this band is for yourself! Oh yeah, did I mention that this Swallowing Swords EP is limited to only a 100 CDs – find out more about this EP HERE.
