My poor mom…looking back, once I hit 13, I became mommy’s little monster! I was not the only one, because the hardcore movement spread across Southern California like wild fire. So many kids went from being the apple of their parents’ eyes to little shits that they could no longer understand and that they wanted to send away to anti-punk boot camp. Out of the wild in the streets arose the huge family of misfits that although we were dysfunctional had a mad love for each other! It has been said that our movement changed the world, but honestly, the scene changed all of those involved for life! Today we are so proud to share with you an epic 80’s SoCal hardcore photo essay that is full of the characters that made the scene so special. We have pictures from the We Got Power crew who had a fanzine back then, but now have released an unreal photo book of this historic period. Then we are also featuring photos from the Fer Youz crew, who had a one-sheet zine bank in the day. When you see the photos that Brian and Nikki Tucker took, you will realize that their flicks are art and history all rolled into one! Without both of these creative entities in my life, I might not be the human I am today, so to them I say thank you. To all of my sisters and brothers that did not make it, R.I.P.…We don’t die, we multiply!
