Petrified at The Museum of Human Anatomy in Naples

The Museum of Human Anatomy in Naples has some very interesting medical treasures housed in its walls. Their exhibits include preserved human remains in various preparations, including some revolutionary and lost ones. There are two specimens of calcified remains prepared by Giuseppe Albini in the late 1800s, a bust of a woman and the full corpse of a newborn baby. The museum also contains the petrified works of Efisio Marini, who petrified human blood, organs and bones to create gorgeous inlaid works of art, like a table that’s centerpiece is a woman’s hand fully preserved. I also included a few shots of the table he gave to Napoleon III, which is not at this museum, but fascinating to behold.
