So hit play below and get your pre-game on for tonight’s show!

Craft – Demonspeed..from Fuck the Universe
This has to be my fave black metal album of all time…so fucking rockin, so ripped…best riffs, best drumming…every fucking song on this record crushes…one of the best overall DIY metal records ever…so badass…fucking full speed ahead!!!

Entombed – Left Hand Path…from Left Hand Path
I’m 36, so this album was one of the first death metal albums I had ever heard and one of the first ones I ever owned…every current throwback death metal band tries to sound like this and I’m not complaining at all…again an example of killer riffs, rockin drums and ripped vocals…you guys seeing a trend here?…haha…For those just getting into death metal, there are far more important albums you need to check out since this is pretty much a Slayer/rock album…but no one was doing this kinda metal when it came out and no one has done it better since…these guys also really were one of say 3 or 4 Swedish bands (Carnage, Dismember, Unleashed, Grave etc) that moulded the death metal scene over there…fucking classic.

Yob – Prepare the Ground…from Atma
I have only recently in the past year or so gotten into Yob…this shit is insane…Chris Bruni at Profound Lore puts out some crazy albums and this one is no exception…mind shatteringly crushing…tons of emotion…Mike’s guitar playing is so wicked and is only secondary in overall wickedness to his supreme vocals…currently this album is my jam…had the pleasure of booking Yob’s first Vancouver show recently…amazing show…and amazing people…have become good friends with Aaron and Mike…best.

Mayhem – Chimera (full album)
I play in Anciients…we recently put out our debut on Season of Mist…personally this stokes me to no end…like, dude, my band is on the same label as fucking Mayhem!!!…dude…people can shit talk all they want about member changes and other horse shit, at the end of the day these guys were the craziest, sickest, weirdest dudes ever…and…they still kinda are…Like each album is fucked up and weird and what “black metal” should be…unsafe, dangerous, mysterious, and nauseating as all fuck…I love the swirling, unstable, fucked up way they do pretty much everything…Maniac’s vocals on this record are sick…I have been diggin this one a lot lately, kind of a revisit…the production is actually really good and it’s a bit more straight forward and thrashy…well, haha…as straight forward as Mayhem gets anyway…which is still suuuper fuuuucked up by most bands standards…Long live fucking Mayhem, the true fathers of Norwegian black metal…could give a flying fuck if you don’t agree…you weren’t there anyways brah.

Autopsy – Dead…from Mental Funeral
My fave Autopsy song from my fave Autopsy album…possibly the world’s heaviest song…seriously…4 lines of lyrics…all that is required…such sick detuned harmonies…ahhh…so raaad!!!…Also, I have 2 copies of this on slime green vinyl…had them since grade 11…like I said…I’m hella old.

Celtic Frost – Necromantical Screams…from To Mega Therion
my fave metal band ever…that is all…tom g warrior is god…everyone from high on fire to obituary owes.

Bolt Thrower- Unleashed Upon Makind…from Warmaster
Another no comment needed song/album/band…I know these guys are the fuckin darlings of the hipstery doomy hardcore whatever thing that’s going on now (which is weird to me and boggles my mind) and everyone has listened to them since forever (sure, youre fucking 23)…but…it’s totally justified (now that I think about it), for me, these guys were the heaviest band around when I first heard them…simple…punk as fuck…crushing…best riffs…horrible drumming!!!…haha…Seriously though, this is their best record and one of the raddest tunes from this album…the original war metal yo…oh, and Joe Bench is in the band, so they win by default.

Ministry – Hero…from Psalm 69
First heavy show I went to was Ministry for this tour…with Helmet and Sepultura opening…blew my feeble 15 year old brain…I dont listen to a ton of industrial music…like none really…but for me this is the best one in the genre…perfect mix of creepy growly vocals…ice cold buzzsaw riffing…lurching pulsing drums…like I said, I saw this live and it was no fucking canned music…this band was on fucking fire…3 guitars, 2 drummers…retarded…so boss.

Sepultura – Dead Embryonic Cells…from Arise
First heavy tape I had…set the tone for everything else heavy I ever got into…it really opened some doors for me…was really fast and heavy but I could still wrap my mind around it…total stepping stone in terms of what my brain could handle at the time…haha…this song is wicked…trippy riffs…total classic Sepultura tune…another amazing band I had the chance to see several times back in the day…like early 90’s…ruled.

Black Sabbath- Wheels of Confusion…from Vol 4
Fucking duh.

Suffocation – Devoid of Truth…from Despise the Sun
I always thought that this recording was their best…wish it wouldve been a full album…the Steve Heritage recording here is rad…every song is a winner…probably my all time favorite death metal band…I think in terms of punishing, heavy breakdown-y, double kicky death metal no one can touch Suffocation…like Frank’s vocals alone knock you on your ass…this band was/is a killing machine…please enjoy.

Assuck- Salt Mine…from Misery Index
Another band I see written across people’s chests all the time now…like where the fuck are they getting these shirts?…Are they making them at home?…fuck…it’s cool, mind you, to see kids doing their homework and checking out bands like Assuck…these guys pretty much perfected political grind…unreal band live also…I saw them in a church in East Van with Reversal of Man…stupid good show…the total good old days…this record rules…mind you I prefer Anti Capital, I cant find the Anti Capital (weak) cd so I’m listening to this one now…haha…check Rob’s drumming…bloody ridiculous.

Decapitated – Homo Sum…from Carnival is Forever
Just finished a month of touring with these guys…listened to this every night live and every day in the van…best people ever…really miss them…can’t wait to see them again…fuck yes Poland…currently these guys are one of the best death metal bands on earth…not open for debate.

Lamb of God – Desolation…from Resolution
Same deal…just finished a month of touring with LOG…wasn’t really all that familiar with their music and or whatever…I knew they were a huge band and they played a kinda Slayer-y/Pantera-ish type metal…well…they fucking decimate…holy shit…every night…killing it…very intelligent, chill nice dudes…had a blast…Was an honour to open for them each night and will do it again in a second…this new record by them is pretty fuckin thrashy and cool…I prefer LOG live fur shuur but…this will do…again, live they will give ANY metal band a run for their money…fucking sick band, even if it’s not fully my vibe.

Sadistic Intent- Return to the Eve (Celtic Frost cover)…from In Memory of Celtic Frost
Check out this album of Celtic Frost covers…there are a few good ones…but…this one is kiiiiilllllerrrr!!!…Been coming back to this jam over and over for years…Sadistic Intent was/is a totally underated band…super evil and super cool…check it…the vocals, so rad.

Dissection- Nights Blood…from Storm of the Lights Bane
Near perfect metal song from a near perfect album…if you haven’t heard the first 2 Dissection albums, do yourself a huge favor…so frostbitten and grim!!!…Like Ride the Lightning era Metallica playing black metal…but not stock as fuck like later Immortal…you’ll see.

Death – Together as One…from Human
Just did a 3 weeks tour with DTA (Death to All) the Cynic/Human lineup of Death with a guest vocalist…what a great tribute to Chuck…We had a blast and getting to see Paul, Sean and Steve rule this song and all the other Human songs, plus pre-Human era hits, was something I will never, ever forget…This album changed my way of thinking about music…it’s another near perfect album and this track is my fave…tough to pick one, but I think this is it…Sean’s drumming is out of this world and at the time was leaps and bounds beyond what anyone else was even thinking of doing…and he was fucking 19…It was a true privalege to meet and tour with these guys…amazing people…for me, one of the higlights of my metal life…if you do not own this album please, please download it ASAP…it’s like the Steely Dan of metal…so fuckin smooth.

Immolation – I feel nothing
So fucking heavy…God damn these dudes are trippy…saw them on this tour…super interesting band…very unique…true death metal…enjoy the blasphemy.
