LYCUS House…
D.I.Y. Doom Jam In Full Effect
Video & Photo Essay

One thing that we have on our side is community and believing in ourselves when no one else will. I guess you could say that’s part of having a DIY state of mind, this kind of thinking/action is priceless, it’s a major reason why the underground has never died. I have lived in the Bay Area, so I know what the vibe is like up there, you get a sense that it is us against the world. Right now you have so many creative beings living there it’s not even funny, and some of them are in bands, some are video documentarians & some do various other rad things. A week ago, an event took place at the LYCUS (an epic funeral doom band) house where some of the gnarliest young groups performed all night long for free. Here is a list of the humans that were on hand to slaughter shit: SWAMP WITCH, LYCUS, BRUXERS & BEGOTTEN. What also made this night extra special was that our seven stories alum Kevin Hobbs was on hand with his video camera to capture this moment in underground history. This footage is fucking classic, it’s like you can feel the bass bouncing off of the walls & smell the stench of weed coming out of your computer screen. So here is the way that you watch all these awesome visual documents, you load up your bong, light it & press play. Catch all of the DIY action after the jump – good looking out to LYCUS, Kevin & all of the other bands who ripped it!
