Love them or hate them, is this the question? I speaking of The Smiths, who in some people’s minds are the most influential British indie band of the 80’s. When I was young, I really liked their music, I can’t front. One thing that was a trip to see during the 80’s was how Morrissey and company were able to create music that resonated with the youth. As I got older it’s not that I started disliking The Smiths’ music, but I feel that Morrissey is a diva. Some people might be wondering, why is CVLT Nation doing a post on the documentary The Smiths – Under Review – because they are a band that transcends musical boundaries. It really interests me how this band is loved by punks, weirdos, Latino gangsters and even metal heads. What I like about The Smiths – Under Review as a film is the way it talks to the humans that were behind the scenes that helped to make this band work. Love them or hate them you can’t ignore the impact they had youth culture! So after the jump, see for yourself how soon is now…
