Loser…FISTULA Review + More

I smell the sludge stench in the air…I smell the sludge filth…I smell motherheavy FISTULA & they are raining death deafness down onto the world! I have been listening to these dudes rip shit for a minute now. So when I heard they have a new EP called Loser coming out on PATAC Records in September, I was mad stoked! Plus they brought in some other maniac weirdos to help create this dirty audio chaos – I’m speaking of none other than Nate Linehan from Anal Cunt & Steve Barcus from King Fire Goat. Loser is one epic awesome record – six motherfucking songs, whiskey-soaked, bong water-infused sludge, but here’s the twist – it’s also straight punk, almost d-beat at times. On tracks like “The Hounds” they conjure up some demonic rage on speed that will have your neck snapping, & the drums on this song are super gnarly. Since the track is six minutes long, they break it back down to a drugged out doom pace. “Coma Forever” is way beyond thick & heavy; the bassline shakes your innards while the vocals spread disease all over your face. Yeah, this track is ugly, but for some reason I just don’t want it to end. I could write about every song on Loser, but then I would spoil the surprise. Put it this way – if you are a fan of FISTULA, you will really enjoy puffing one to this EP; I’ve never heard them this brutal & fast! If you are not a fan now, then after listening to this album you will rename your bong FISTULA. After the jump, check out this awesome video of theirs – it’s pretty cyco…plus see the cover art up close!
