Goners No Longer – The Return of Early Graves

One year ago, the unthinkable happened when San Francisco metal band Early Graves lost their singer, Mahk Daniels, in a deadly van crash. It’s every touring band’s nightmare and something that is impossible to recover from. After a year of silence, Early Graves has been rejuvenated, playing the high-profile “Power of the Riff” Southern Lord showcase, as well as working on new material. John Stracham of LA based black metal band The Funeral Pyre has joined as their new vocalist and is helping to bring the brutality of the songs on Goner, the band’s second LP, back to the live setting.

I recently had a chance to see the band open for Rorschach in San Francisco and captured these photos. Early Graves were one of the most blistering and violent acts I’ve heard in a long time. It was impossible not to be bowled over by the neck-breaking riffs and scathing, hateful vocals. If you have a chance to see this band live, don’t miss it. See a full color gallery of Early Graves and a link to buy Early Graves merch after the jump!

Help this band get back on their feet by buying their record or a shirt here. R.I.P. Mahk Daniels
