This has not been a good week for the neo nazi movement. The USA’s Ku Klux Klan has been cyber-conquered by ANONYMOUS, and in Germany a neo nazi march inadvertently raised 10,000 Euro for EXIT Deutschland, a non-profit group dedicated to helping neo nazis decolonize their minds and exit the gang. A town in Germany called Wunsiedel has become a mecca of sorts for neo nazis because Hitler’s henchman Rudolf Hess is buried there. Every year in November, neo nazis gather to march down its streets and pay tribute to Hess, and this year the town decided to take action against them – but not in the way you’d expect. Instead of just counter-demonstrating, the town engineered a nazi walkathon that the marchers were forced by pride to participate in. The group Rights Versus Rights organized the event with the help of local residents and businesses, who agreed to donate 10 Euro for every meter the nazis marched. They put up motivational banners, threw rainbow confetti, gave them bananas to keep their energy up, and the crowd cheered them on their 1000-meter march. Every few meters, the town had painted “thank you” on the street, plus the amount they had raised so far, reminding the nazis that they were marching for a good cause. The nazis knew upon arrival about the town’s plan to turn their hate into love, and had the choice either to cancel the march, or to go ahead and raise funds to undermine their own cause. Too proud to turn back, the knuckleheads went ahead with the march, raising 10,000 Euros in Hess’ memory to dismantle the ignorant ideas he stood for. This is truly amazing, and a great way to answer their hate! Watch a video of the event below.
