Hi, what are you looking for?

Black Metal

From the dark cosmos –
Dark Elite “Enter the Void”

Another good surprise for the year is this self released EP “Enter the Void” by the mysterious Finnish black metal band Dark Elite.

Formed by T. Honkanen (Battlelore as bassist) on guitars, H. Hyytiäinen aka Witch King (Avathar/Baranduin/Cataleptic/Sear) on bass, E. Keränen on vocals and E.A on drums, this mysterious elite has crafted, within the stars and dark cosmic universes, a very interesting piece of black metal. Musically speaking, Dark Elite’s sound floats around some black/death metal like their Finnish brothers in arms, Desolation Shrine, unleashing five tracks filled with some very serious and powerful cosmic blackness, swallowing into this pitch black universe of a well orchestrated chaos. The sound production is great, absolutely professional giving this EP one of the factors why you should hear it.

To fully understand this project, the band has stated the following manifest on their website:

“Main theme of Dark Elite is space, death, chaos and reality. I personally do not like to make fucked up stories of the “occult”, “gods”, “satan”, “moomin”…the list continues. These are things I personally do not really believe in.

This band deals with “reality”. Yes, if you really think that there is higher power that has something to do with mans existence? If so, then you really are being fucked by your own brain and the mighty force of imagination in your brain. There really isn’t any great creator or forces of evi/god If you are against this. Please prove me wrong. If you really thing other wise I must say “congratulations” because you have good imagination but you are also stupid. With Dark Elite the productivity and ideology is directed towards something real and really fucking dark and evil.

I don’t say that it wouldn’t be great if all those things would exist, but really…if you think so. Do reality check with 9mm bullet. I don’t mind that other people make music about those topics, it’s ok. But with Dark Elite this is not the case. Our songs are about mightiest, most evil, most hostile and unknown “thing” human race has ever encountered and it’s up there. No, not heaven, it’s high above that place. Cold, Dark and full of unexplained mysteries. and also it’s important to understand that…

Death is the passage to stars.”

Presenting great structured songs, i specially enhance the track “Sic Itur Ad Astra”, which is the perfect example of the power what this band has. I also must give credit to E.Keränen, for a fabulous vocal work on this EP, giving a more tenebrous and malefic aura to the whole environment on “Enter the Void”. The maturity that Dark Elite exhale leaves me wandering that these guys must have a very strong music background. The band has a very interesting website, you can check out here, that allows you absorb this musical and visual experience as a whole superb concept.

Dark Elite were kind enough to offer this amazing EP for free, as they are already working on a full length. I don’t want to even imagine what will come out of them, hopefully something as brutal and powerful as this debut EP. “Enter the Void” will be soon released in tape by the hand of Schattenkult Produktionen although the band is still looking for someone to release it on vinyl. Check it out and follow their steps on their Facebook page. Future awaits for this promising band, and i can tell in the stars that is going to be brilliant.
