Death Drive…WRNRLD Review

Mad mad & sick in the head, Wrnrld from Arlington, VA, constructs black metal from a place were no boundaries exist! I totally dig their album Death Drive, released via FSS in 2010; it is music for the mentally ill to listen to on a sunny day. On songs like “Grave Dowser,” they utilize demented vocals mixed with cyco accordion that have the force to move your braincells to an altered state. Wrnrld experiments with the sonic rules that make up what black metal should sound like, and basically they just fucking flip the script on them. The title track, “Death Drive,” is creepy sonic lava that will scorch your soul with it’s angular blackened guitar work. Wrnrld layers their drums deep down into the mix to the point where they are almost not audible. The composition “Midnight Ride” has some rad vocals brought in by Dwid Hellion from the mammoth hardcore band Integrity. When it’s all said & done, just have a listen to the last track “Luster”; it’s stellar! Watch out Charlie Brown, Wrnrld is coming for your Death Drive! After the jump check out some of their dark zany trailers…
