You Should Hear Today!

DEVOID

Has Transylvanian Tapes released one whack release yet? The answer is a monolithic HELL NO!!! With their soon to be released tape by DEVOID, I personally think they might just be putting out one of the best Doom project of 2015! This band not only punishes you, but also ejects your braincells into space so you can look back down on to earth, then trip out. DEVOID packs the power of sludge at times while also building space for their atmosphere to take shape. I can’t pick one favorite song, because I’m a fan of the whole DEVOID experience. If any tape deserved the vinyl treatment, I & II should be at the top any label’s list. Much respect due to the band for manifesting such an awesome debut, and much respect due to Transylvanian Tapes putting out quality band after quality band!

DIRT CHURCH OBZ

I don’t give a fuck. This outstanding piece of sonic filth came out in 2013 but never got the shine it deserved! So we are here to change all that, and let you know that Scum Prophets by DIRT CHURCH OBZ is dirty, sleazy creation of doom that you all should HEAR! What I really dig about this band is the sense of haunting drama they are able to create in their compositions. I would would love to walk into a church on Sunday and hear DIRT CHURCH OBZ doing their thing; I’d be a convert in no time. Press play below and get ready to descend into this band’s perverse world, where their riffs will skull fuck you for sure! All praise DIRT CHURCH OBZ!

BATTLE HAG

Doom is very powerful kind of music on many levels, and BATTLE HAG create that kind of  Shamanic Doom that has a healing power as much as it is HEAVY. Their songs don’t seem that oppressive to me, because I can hear the empathy that their riffs were dipped in! This band hits those tones that make you realize we are all in this thing called life together, and our sometimes fucked up lives will get better! I fucking love the cycodelic grooves that BATTLE HAG are capable of hitting – they sound so sick when your THC cookie high is at it’s highest…When you hear their song “The Book Of Thoth,” I have a good feeling you will say to yourself, I’m now listening to one of my favorite new doom bands! Don’t keep your joy all to yourself, share it and let BATTLE HAG know that you are down with their kind of warfare. Stay tuned to CVLT Nation for a full review in the near spaced-out future!

HIDING SUN

The new French Doom-Sludge duo Hiding Sun have come out to the scene with a 28 minute stellar debut entitled Sol Mane. This piece of music has so many different emotions and changes happening that you will never get bored. Hiding Sun knows how to bring the darkest, but also allow enough space for the sun to shine through. With each listen you will find something new about Sol Mane that will have you saying, damn, I LOVE THIS BAND! I was hooked on Hiding Sun after the first minute…How long will it take you to become a fan?

I love doom but there are at least 2 that do not deserve the title doom – it’s slow black metal but Battle Hag and Hiding Sun.

With those riffs and tempos, DEVOID sounds like doom to me, even though the vocals are black metal. EHG combine doom/sludge and hardcore. Genres are fluid. Yes, DIRT CHURCH OBZ is slow black metal.

Yeah…if you lived in a small town, you had no real access to ‘underground’ music.

One word. (If your american youll get it) …..indiana.
Yeah, we had music like this im sure… But, the people that listened to it werent walking around playing it for random 15 year olds… And it was before the internet exploded… No youtube or even myspace. But, atleast i can find it now. Hell, a few years ago i found Celtic Frosts “Monotheist” (which is completely different from anything theyve done, thankfully) it was so fucking heavy, not fast…heavy, heavy and fucking hopeless… So fucking abysmal. I wanted more, it fit what i felt. Im glad theres more than just that one record, no matter how much it meant to me.
