CVLT Nation Label Series Mixtape Curated by Merz Tapes

CVLT Nation is beyond stoked to release a new mixtape for our Label Series today, curated by Merz Tapes’ owner Cameron Shafii. Merz Tapes is based in San Francisco, and is a purveyor of music that expands the mind – obscure, avant garde sounds that echo off the walls of a black hole. Shafii has curated a mix of some of his favorite songs right now for our readers, and gives us an idea of what a label head listens to when he isn’t listening to his own releases. Check out what he has to say below, follow his listening advice and download the mix after the jump…

In theory, I chose to use the chance to curate this volume of CVLT NATION’s Label Series as a way to atone for my negligence in sharing music with others.

Wear headphones. Drink 3 oz. of Macallan Scotch neat; perhaps, even, turn the lights off. Lap-kneading cats are welcome to join.

This mixtape that I have curated features tracks from artists who are very much engaged actively in composing. Though some of the artists listed below may appear to be dormant at the moment, I encourage you to support the respective projects and associated labels if you enjoy their music.
