The dogs of war are barking, and if one band could make them eat lead and die it would be Seattle’s OCCULT SS. Their four song demo, Tomorrow Belongs To Them, has been on fucking repeat since Wartime Collective sent us a copy. Is there one whack moment on this tape? Hell no! The whole blackened affair is john blaze! If you demand your Dis Beat charred and BB-Q’ed with extra hot anger, you will devour this bands primal sound. Once you hear the first minute of “Rattle Tooth” you will realize that OCCULT SS is on some next shit. This band doesn’t just play riffs, they fucking shoot them at the skulls of corrupt politicians with no remorse. What gets me so hyped about this band is the way they have melted down the sound of D-beat and mixed it with all sorts of ignitable audio formulas that make it all their own. Let me talk about how killer their singer is – this human’s delivery is in attack mode on every track. The way that OCCULT SS writes their songs, you will feel their anger towards authority, but it’s the rancid melody that gets me high. The amount of misery you are going to hear in their riffage will make the hair on the back of your neck fall off. Before I forget, I’ve got to give the drummer some: at certain times, you would swear the ghost of old school thrash metal was banging out the beats! I dig the way they mixed this demo as well, everything is at the right level, and the end result has the right amount dirt. Even when they slow down, like the dirge on their tune “Heathen Blood,” my reality turns black, before transforming into warrior mode! I feel real fucking lucky to be able to share OCCULT SS’ Tomorrow Belongs To Them demo with the CVLT Nation readers, this band is what this zine is all about FTW. Trust me when I say this: you will be hearing more about OCCULT SS – I have a feeling that this demo will end up on many end of the year lists, and I don’t think that this band will stay unsigned for very long! What I do know is that you will hear them on the next volume of CVLT Nation’s Blackened Everything. In the meantime, check out the stream below and download this sick demo in the process as well.

Crude SS, SS Decontrol, Tempere SS, Reagan SS, Black SS, The SS, SS-Kaliert, etc… I can keep going if you’d like. The “SS” thing is nothing new and has EXCLUSIVELY been used by non-fascist punk bands for the last 20+ years. Do your homework.
