CVLT Nation Captures: WINDHAND, Danava, Monolord at the Biltmore

Photos: Taylor Ferguson

A couple days before Halloween, the almighty WINDHAND blew into The Biltmore in Vancouver on the back of an icy Northwest gale, accompanied by Portland’s Danava and Sweden’s Monolord. The openers, Hoopsnake and Dead Quiet, warmed up a crowd that was already – and suitably – packed by the time Monolord hit the stage. This was their first North American tour, and their first and only step onto Canadian soil during the tour, and they fucking destroyed. It’s been a while since I felt music that heavy, and being that this was the band I was most looking forward to seeing live, they met my expectations and more! They mentioned something about another North American tour next year, so if you didn’t make it out to one of their shows this year, keep an eye out for that! The rest of this show review is heresay, since I had to rush home to a puking toddler who vomited on me until 4AM while Sean was out enjoying himself watching the rest of the bands. He told me that Danava and Windhand both had a huge draw in this city as well, and people crushed in to go on a technicolor trip with Danava. When Windhand took the stage, the anticipation was high to hear tracks off Grief’s Infernal Flower in a live setting, and they brought their new album to life in a stunning and unforgettable way. Our comrade Taylor Ferguson was on hand to capture all of the performances that night, so check out his visuals below!
