Burial Breed
THE BLACK COFFINS
Review

I demand some ice-cold blackened rawness in my life, so that I can face the mindless masses of the world and stay sane. What I am blasting through my speakers right now that has my blood boiling is Brazil’s The Black Coffins. Unholy fuck, this band’s 5 song EP, Burial Breed, is a skin-peeler and a brain-smasher all in one! I’m so fucking excited about The Black Coffins, I want to stop writing this review and start putting together Blackened Everything Vol.6! This band has all of the elements of the music that gets me hyped. The Black Coffins’ songs make you feel like your whole being is trapped in a maze of black hate that causes your reality to smell like rotting corpses. Dmitry Globa-Mikhallenko, from the Russian drone orchestra Phurpa, performs the intro to “Sunsets in a Tomb Sky,” a haunting prelude for a dark trip. When the song does kick in, the riffs start to crawl all over your brain, sending you into demonic bliss. The vocals of every The Black Coffins song chew away at your bones with each syllable and the lyrics bleed the black blood of radness. This band is a fucking two headed monster, with the cryptic warrior groove of dis beat and the homicidal dirge of death metal. On “Kingdom my Kingdom,” the band decides to pound your skull with killer drumming that sounds like it is played with the hands of Satan on speed! Some people want to travel to Brazil for the sun, but I want to make a trip down to to see some of my favorite bands live; The Black Coffins, Deaf Kids and Whipstriker would make for an awesome bill. CVLT Nation wants this band to record a full length ASAP!!! Make to check out their off the chain Discharge cover of “Possibility of Life’s Destruction.”
