Bowing Heads…BONE AWL Review + More

Hollow graves, broken bones, tormented beings, murder caves…the ultra primitive black metal band Bone Awl straight destroy sound. This California band brings that raw blackened metal the way I dig it, with punk puke sprayed all over it. Their EP, Bowing Heads, is 15 minutes of dark rad rage that I just don’t want to end. Bone Awl play the type of chaos that makes you want to hurt the people in so-called power with no apology. Their songs have this almost -d beat vibe about them that just gets me going. On songs like “The Awful Voice” you can feel & hear a sinister rock & roll groove that will keep your head moving. The vocals in are pure death, which makes them rad as hell in my black book. Bone Awl are exactly what I like about American primitive black metal – they are not afraid to inject a little cryptic voodoo boogie into their sound. On tracks like “Howard N.” you get this sense that the band is about to lose their minds, there is a layer of madness that is off the meat rack. The guitar work on Bowing Heads is nuclear murder to the max, the riffs are shrill & extremely catchy in a subversive way. Do yourself a favor, if you have not heard of Bone Awl, buy all of their records, you will not be disappointed. After the jump, check out some killer live footage.

If you’re gonna say ” if you have not heard of Bone Awl, buy all of their records, you will not be disappointed.” you should probably provide a link to their webstore or somewhere wherever their stuff can be purchased. At the very least mention what label releases their stuff.
