Blood Pressure – Promo Tape 2015

By John Villegas

Playing in punk and hardcore bands means playing at and going to hundreds of shows where you see tens of thousands of bands play hundreds of thousands of songs. This is the life I’ve chosen for myself. Whilst it may be great amounts of fun, it’s easy to become jaded, and all the music will undoubtedly start to run together. Only the best of the best really stand out, and after a while you start to realize you are rarely afforded the opportunity to see the “cream of the crop.”

Enter Blood Pressure. They play hardcore punk at absolutely breakneck speeds with such veracity as to not be faked. In a world of one million punk bands recycling the same riffs and ideas, it’s no easy task to stand out. After a demo and self titled 7″, their newest offering comes in the form of a promo tape for a mini LP due out on Beach Impediment Records.

Four truly blistering songs encapsulated in about 5 minutes, the songs a whirlwind of riffs and shifting dynamics, but they have enough catches and hooks to keep you from listening once and filing away. Not to mention they are one of the most intense and truly exciting bands on the east coast currently. Enough sucking their proverbial dick – listen for yourself and recognize that the bar has been set that much higher.
