Apocalyptic Blues

Barons of Filth…
BADR VOGU
Review + More

All I wanted was whiskey and a spliff, and after checking out Badr Vogu‘s 2011 Tour Demo, I feel like I got my fix of both. Hot filthy blackened damn, this Oaktown band puts down some Apocalyptic Blues the way I dig it, down right dirty fucking audio chaos all in your grill. All of their tunes are heavier than life on skid row, with thick ass bass that will put your mind in space. Badr Vogu’s songs move at the slow pace of lava, andpack the same amount of heat. So check this out – when you hear this band, you hear some OG punks smoking mad amounts of ganja & making music that gives the mind room to travel. Here is the other thing about this band’s demo – yeah it has the sludge effect, but this band still packs that East Oakland punk vibe which gives their sonic vibration that extra punch that moves my blackened soul. When you listen to this demo you can hear the blues & history of their city bleeding through every riff. Badr Vogu’s vocals sound mean & like they were recorded in the sewer, as rats chewed away at the throat of the vocalist. What really draws me to this band is the serpent groove that bites you with each listen. Well I feel mad lucky, and so are you if you are reading this review and living in Southern California, because Badr Vogu & Hazzard’s Cure are heading out on a mini tour entitled Southern Fallout 2011, starting this Friday July 8th – peep the flyer & dates after the jump.

Badr Vogu, mind you is actually heading all the way to New Orleans and back after San Diego, while the timid Hazzard’s Cure shall slink back home to their nest.
