Artist to Artist Interviews…
FULL OF HELL Vs LOW PLACES

Dylan Walker interviews Vince Conriquez

The live ritual of Low Places definitely seems to be an important aspect to your music. Explain what the band is trying present to the viewer?

We are trying to create a nightmarish environment, and have the audience literally scared. From the feedback to tape loops to noise and energy, we are trying to push away from the boring stage banter that a lot of bands have at their live shows, even at house shows. If there is silence, we are yawning. All loud all the time.

Why does Low Places choose to use such controversial art, especially material containing themes of racism?

We are fascinated with the lowest places of humanity, and the aesthetic which comes from it. Accusations of being “edgy” or full on racism come from those who take the imagery at face value.

I believe that someone once said that you guys are “just angry b9 kids that love violence and just found GISM”. Confirm/Deny?

We heard the rumor too, but we cannot confirm or deny. GISM is a huge influence though. Pretty fucking funny though considering where it stemmed from. We’ll just leave it at that.

What bands are you most excited to see at the show in January?

Definitely Eyehategod. It’s a solid fucking lineup all around. I definitely will not be missing a single band.

are these guys really ripping off a gism logo now? who the fuck do they think they are? I’ve seen them twice and never witnessed any sort of “violence.”
