All The Way RAD…

Now Showing

Black Flag kills ants on contact…actually, I’m way more into the band than the insect spray. They were one of the hardcore bands that I saw live more times than I can remember. I can’t think of one show that Black Flag didn’t give it their all while performing. As I got older & would go to see their shows, I liked standing off to the side of the stage & watching how the crowd would react to the band as their music got slower. Greg Ginn & his band of weirdos did not give a fuck, they made hardcore that was confrontational but not in the normal sense. Today CVLT Nation found this rad live footage from the early 80’s at a house party on the Westside of Los Angeles. When I watch this show, it’s pretty rad to see my Suicidal homies representing. Another thing that these videos make me realize is that no matter how many big shows this band played, they would still rock a house party at the drop of the dime! So after the jump, let’s have a T.V. Party & watch some killer Black Flag footage…

An unbelievable find. Interesting to imagine, in retrospect, how much LSD might have played a part in Rollins’s performance. (He would later admit as much, at least with respect to a certain period of Flag’s time.) He certainly turned the hippie aspect of the drug on its ear, and really went for the heart of darkness.

It can maybe never be said enough how much Black Flag blazed their own trail. They more or less invented hardcore as many of us would come to know it, and then they moved on to completely different terrain.
