A New Movement In Sound…
CODE ORANGE KIDS
Review

This is a News Alert broadcasting from planet CVLT Nation: their is a new band in town, or maybe I should say that there is a new movement in town, it’s called Code Orange Kids, from Pittsburgh. I knew within the first five seconds of listening to their 2010 demo that this band was extra special. When you can bend & contort the sound of hardcore the way these kids do, damn you’ve got to be on some next shit! When I hear Code Orange Kids, I know that these humans put their soul into the music that they create & this fact will pay off for them in long run by giving them longevity as a band. I am just totally amazed by this band, my mind is racing thinking about all the rad things I want to write about them. Code Orange Kids have harnessed the fury of hardcore & injected it with this blackened dose of melody that gets me high as fuck. Then they have this awesome dissonant thing happening in their songs plus these mammoth breakdowns that just strangle you with their groove! The lyrical content is all about the human condition which makes you think about what part do you play in it. Code Orange Kids’ vocals are an instrument unto themselves & are just dripping with angst-ridden emotion. Plus, this band constructs their songs so that the vocals & music play perfectly off of each other – basically they do an awesome job at creating an call & response effect between the two. Then there is the sound that the band conjures up: it’s fucking huge, but for some reason they are still able to capture a D.I.Y sound in their tunes. One thing they are great at doing is making you a believer…I can hear & feel their conviction to the point where it is infectious. Beware that The Code Orange Kids pack a giant punch of emotion & power, plus they will leave you wanting for more. Check out their song “Roots,” the way it kicks in with this broken beat then the vocals pull you into a pit before the music comes in & crushes you – holy fuck it will give a good feeling inside. I could tell you about all of the epic bands from the past that this band reminds me of, but I won’t because today is all about them. I will say that it’s going to be cool as hell to fellow their career & watch them grow as musicians. I will not even front – I want to see them live & I will go ape shit for sure. After the jump, check some illmatic video & live shots of the band & you will see that the Code Orange Kids are a movement. Plus, download their demo HERE!
