Some bands give all they’ve got & then some. California’s CHILDREN OF GOD are that kind of band. A couple of months ago, I reviewed their latest EP, Coup de Grâce, which blackened murdercore to the next level. Now I’m going to talk about their 2009 demo, which is fucking epic awesome! These dudes play that neck-snapping kind of musical chaos that makes me want to eat hot peppers & breathe fire. This demo is three songs of unholy terror from start to finish, which comes way too soon. CHILDREN OF GOD‘s drumming has the power of a million jackhammers. The vocalist spits blood with every grunt & scream, & seems like he is about to black out with fury. This band uses the tension that their music creates almost as another instrument. CHILDREN OF GOD are aware of creating space with their music & letting the groove ride off into the abyss. Their group’s song “Sheep, Meet Blade” was featured on CVLT Nation’s mixtape Blackened Everything Vol.1 & it fucking wrecked shit. I have a mission for you: download this demo HERE.
