THE BLVD CAFE AND BAR is a venue located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, just east of Downtown L.A. It is in and of itself a bastion of hope. A beacon of light in a city hell bent on crushing the fighting spirit of DIY culture. Completely ran and operated by punk and metal aficionados of many years, this venue is unshakable in its purpose & determination to provide Southern California with the best the world of metal and punk have to offer. The very existence of such a locale is testament to the unyielding spirit that prevails in all of us. kids will still go even if it was 18 and over, they never really required ID unless you were drinking. and yes kids are stupid, and fuck everything up for everyone else, especially the ones who cant control their alcohol. too bad that the blvd is on hiatus, if it doesn’t come back. well we had fun and we will miss the only spot in all of southern california that was actually fun to go to shows at.

Most punks in L.A. and Long Beach don’t like or support the Blvd because of the fact that they don’t respect DIY or All ages – 2 very central elements of Punk Rock. Look how black and white the logic is – “kids are knuckleheads”. And while that may be true on the surface, why just stop there? How come the older punks don’t make more efforts to work with younger kids? You were probably assholes when you were 16 too, does that mean we give up on em just like the system does?
