If land could speak, what stories would it tell? Would the soil of the South speak about its’ past of slavery, & how plantations were the prisons of so many stolen souls? What happens when a young woman from South Carolina picks up a guitar and writes haunting gothic folk songs? The end result is the Lonely Widow record created by Veda Woolf. This collection of tunes is drenched in the sorrow, beauty and pain of the South. The way that Veda writes her songs allows for your thoughts to move in and out of her cryptic guitar strums. When I hear her composition “Stranger,” I can feel the feel the Southern sun in my eyes as I squint at the sky. When you listen to Lonely Widow, delicate clouds will float over your head and let out a heavy storm of dirge. Veda Woolf creates American music that should be heard by all humans because of the honest place it is created from. The recording on this album is perfect, and the mix only adds to the ethereal quality of the music. Sonically, Veda’s tunes are different from many genres of heavy music, but she speaks to a different type of heavy that exists within all of us. The first musicians of this land were armed only with their voices…Veda Woolf is carrying on that tradition! Make sure to check out Lonely Widow streaming below.

Seems very similar to Chelsea Wolfe who, in my opinion, is much better.
