Last Monday, July 25th, I witnessed the band Trash Talk open for hardcore superstars Fucked Up at The Independent in San Francisco. I hadn’t seen either band perform live before, but I had been researching them on youtube before the show. I instantly got excited by what I saw of Trash Talk. I was amazed at how frontman Lee got down into the crowd at an outdoor festival (Soundwave in Australia) and stirred the audience into a torrent of bodies. I was interested to see the band at the Independent, one of the city’s nicest midsized venues which is usually host to indie rock and folk bands. Also, hardcore shows are usually all ages, and this was a 21 and over show. As we waited for Trash Talk to come on, I was discussing this with my friend and he told me “Trash Talk were the most dangerous band in hardcore.” After that night, we found out they still are.
I was there with my camera in an attempt to capture the mayhem being caused by Trash Talk vocalist Lee. Check out the photos after the jump to see how the night unfolded…also click on photos for slide show!
