On a random San Francisco night in 1984, the whole weirdo community descended on Fort Mason Centre at Pier 2 to see Public Image Ltd perform a set that I will never forget. What was special about this night was that the entire event felt like one huge art show, and everyone there was a part of the experience. It was one of those concerts that is etched in my mind. I was already a Public Image Ltd fan, but seeing Johnny and crew do their thing live made me respect them on a whole different level. From day one, they were always leaders, and truly marched to their own drum. Public Image Ltd had a strange, demented vibe that ran through their music, and honestly this is what peaked my interest in them. They have inspired me to think outside of the confines of society, and turn my freedom of choice into action. So today, CVLT Nation would like to celebrate one of the most original bands to ever do it with an epic video & photo essay. So after the jump, see how this is not a love song, but P.I.L!
