The aliens are not coming, they have already arrived in the form of Detroit’s outer-planetary, out of this world HUMAN EYE. Their new album, They Came From the Sky, out now via Sacred Bones Records, is a collection of 8 mind-melting cycodelic punk gems. This is one of those records that makes you feel good to be a freak, because every song on here will have you bugging out for sure. The first thing to attack me was the giant fuzzbox that HUMAN EYE uses to get you under their cosmic spell, & distortion is not the enemy, it’s an ally. Unholy shit, who let the jams out…this band creates black holes of groove & funk that will engulf your whole soul. Their music takes you to a universe where the ghosts of Hendrix, Screaming Jay Hawkins & Lux Interior give robots lessons in the art of get off your ass and dance. HUMAN EYE’s songs have an epic aura of real soul about them, but they also have a dark vibe that comes through in their lyrics. HUMAN EYE’s song writing is super awesome, because with in one song they have the power to give the listener so many different sonic textures. The band is fronted by Timmy Vulgar, and this dude turns himself inside out on every song & gives his all until there is nothing else to give. The have just become the soundtrack to my brand new reality, where every day is summer & all of the black light paintings have come to life. They Came From the Sky is an album that is punk rock in every sense of the word, because I know it was created from a very honest place were Peoploids exist. Check out songs like “Junkyard Heart,” that starts with the sickest voodoo drum pattern then the fuzz takes over & the magic carpet ride begins, next stop out of your mind. They Came From the Sky is a trip of an album, but it’s a trip that will not disapoint, so get on board it’s time to get this voyage started!
