The Woman Who Ate Her Own Son… Modern Day Cannibals

Since reading about Jeffrey Dahmer’s cannibal fantasies at a tender age, I have often wondered how many people on this planet have thought about eating their loved ones or even themselves. It seems like such anti-human behaviour that it’s hard to comprehend that someone would want to cook and eat a human body in the same way we do other animals. But there are many people out there who have gone through with their morbid fantasies, either as revenge or out of curiosity. Here are a few modern-day examples of cannibalism:

Mao Sugiyama’s Ham Cybele – Century Banquet in Tokyo, Japan

Mao Sugiyama is an asexual artist who decided that they no longer needed their genitals, so they had their penis, testicles and scrotum removed in a gender nullification surgery when they turned 22 in 2012. When they were given the frozen genitals to take home, they sent out the following tweet:

[Please Retweet] I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen [$1,250]. I’m Japanese. The organs were surgically removed at age 22. I was tested to be free of venereal diseases. The organs were of normal function. I was not receiving female hormone treatment. The length at full erection was 16.1 cm [6.3 inches]. First interested buyer will get them, or I will also consider selling to a group. Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location. If you have questions, please contact me by DM or e-mail.

They ended up selling the meal to five people who each paid around $250 USD to eat portions of all three organs braised with mushrooms, and they cooked them in front of an audience and served to them at a banquet they organized called Ham Cybele – Century Banquet at a fancy loft in Tokyo. While Sugiyama and guests weren’t charged with any criminal offenses, the Tokyo Met told CalorieLab that the meal was “against the public order and morals in Japan.” CalorieLab also reported that the meal was hard and rubbery, and the words “fishy” and “gamey” were also thrown around.  Armin Miewes, A Wannabe Jeffrey Dahmer

In 2003, Armin Miewes fulfilled his lifelong cannibal fantasies at age 41 with an apparently willing victim. He found 43 year old Bernd Brandes online and the two agreed to a twisted cannibal-murder meal at Miewes’ house in Rotenburg, Germany. First, Brandes let Miewes cut off his penis, saute it and eat it, but like the Sugiyama diners’ comments above, it wasn’t very tasty. So then Miewes filmed himself stabbing Brandes to death, and then butchered him up until he had 65 lbs of human flesh for his freezer. He ate bits of Brandes for the next seven months, trying many different cooking methods and recipes. Miewes claims the meat tasted just like pork. He continued to troll chatrooms like Cannibal Cafi and Eaten Up for other men willing to be eaten, but was eventually turned in to police by one of his would-be victims. He was first sentenced in 2004 to eight years for manslaughter, but at his retrial for murder in 2005, he was sentenced to life in prison. He is now a vegetarian. (source/source)

Klara Mauerova, Mommy Dearest

One of the sickest stories of human depravity I have ever read is the story of Klara Mauerova and her family from Brno in the Czech Republic . Klara and her adopted daughter Barbara Skrlova, along with other family members, tortured Mauerova’s two sons, Ondrej and Jakub, is the most horrific ways they could think of. The two boys were regularly beating, whipped and burned with cigarettes, kept in cages and handcuffed to tables. 8 year old Ondrej was partially skinned, and his mother and family ate pieces of his raw flesh – that’s where the cannibalism comes in. Mauerova, her sister Katarina and daughter Skrlova were all members of The Grail Movement, a bizarre cult that has since been associated with their crimes. One of the creepiest aspects of this story is how Mauerova was found out – her neighbors installed a video monitor to keep tabs on their newborn, but its signals were crossed with the video monitor Mauerova had installed to watch her caged sons in their basement. So instead of images of their baby son, the neighbors saw Ondrej naked and chained up, and called the police. At trial, Mauerova claimed to have been manipulated by her sister and daughter, but that’s fucking weak. (source)
