Pierre Perichaud does Business for Satan, and his artwork reminds me that Satan has good taste. His blasphemous pen and ink illustrations are awash with texture and shadows. It is full of sacrifice and death, live creatures writhing on forest floors and through eye sockets. Life leads to death, and life lives from death – this concept is clear in Perichaud’s dark imagery. His delicate details layer upon each other to convey a heaviness, both in subject matter and in the object itself. He ties human death to animal life, although often it is the animals who are drawing life from our death, our skulls house insects and show how our decay as a species is the best thing that could happen for all of the other life on this planet. To a belief system that sees human beings as the center of the universe, this is indeed business for Satan. After the jump, check out a full gallery of Pierre Perichaud’s work…
