Totally fucking awesome to the point to where I have almost lost my mind into a pit of radness – is how this band, A Pregnant Light, makes me feel. These lo-fi black metal masters make me shake my head in awe their tape, The Feast of Clipped Wings, this masterpiece is out now via Colloquial Sound Recordings. This band creates some ultra-original black metal that is painted with the stench of crust, but this is where it gets weird: at times, I almost feel like the ghost of southern rock has a hand in what this band is doing. Trust me, have a fucking open mind and check this band out, you will not disappointed, because A Pregnant Light is so sick!!! Even though they have a lo-fi sound, they also found a way to make their production sound huge. I’m so impressed with this band, every song has blackened waterfalls of decaying emotion that floods each tune with awesomeness. A Pregnant Light has a way of constructing zany layers in their songs that warp your reality, plus they will make your ears bleed with volcanic melody. When you hear “Under Consult of the Dragon” with it’s superdelic riffage, then you will realize that this band has conjured up a gnarly composition. What really gets me going about The Feast of Clipped Wings is the way this band is able to construct tunes that are angry as fuck, but are still filled with caustic melodic caves that I want to be trapped in. There is this riff on “Impurity Flowing Upwards” that is fucking transcendental; I’m just saying, all of my thoughts fly off into darkness when I hear this song. I’m just more than amazed that this band is willing to create what the hell they want to, without thinking about what people are going to say! If you like dynamic black metal that has punk leanings, than you better check out A Pregnant Light. Much respect to Colloquial Sound Recordings, they have not put out one release that I have not been into.
