Texas 80’s Hardcore!…
Big Boys & M.D.C
Rare Footage Now Showing!

I guess you could say that back in the day when it came to Longhorn Punk Rock/Hardcore, everything is weird from Texas. 3 bands that stood out to me from the Texas scene were Big Boys & MDC. These two awesome musical entities were fronted by gay males, and it was never an issue. They waved their pride flags high and got mad respect. I was a huge fan of both bands, because they all pushed the envolope and were on some next shit when it came to being creative. BIG BOYS brought the funk to their punk, which was fun as fuck to dance to at their shows, plus they were on some skate rock shit which was awesome! MDC came on the scene with their outstanding single “John Wayne Was A Nazi” and it was an instant classic. Looking back in happiness, these bands were a blast to see live and were super rad humans. More than just standing up for gay rights, Big Boys & MDC held it down for human rights. If you never heard of these bands go and check out their back catalogue. In the meantime, CVLT Nation is celebrating these 80’s hardcore OG’s with a rare footage video essay after the jump…

The sound and video quality of the MDC performance is pretty incredible considering it’s almost 3 decades old. Nice find!
