Star Wars has forever changed the landscape of pop culture – a classic story of good versus evil, telling us that even millennia in the future the conflict is black and white. But maybe we’re not seeing the full story…are the bad guys always that bad? Sure, the Stormtroopers are the enemies of the rebels, but maybe at home they’re just like us. Maybe when they’re not trying to massacre anyone who defies the Empire, they hang out with their kids, play games, ponder the universe. Kristina Alexanderson has imagined their home life in her photos of Stormtroopers, showing them behind the scenes of the war. Her photos turn the image of the Stormtrooper on its head, making them sympathetic and likable. Warning – this just might ruin your image of them the next time you watch Star Wars!
