Stalemate…
PROTESTANT
Review + Tour News!

If music could truly move fucking mountains, I know one new release that would be able to do it. That record would be PROTESTANT’s new 10″, Stalemate, out now via HALO OF FLIES RECORDS – it is a fucking wrecking crew from the word go! The first word that comes to mind when I hear this piece of audio warpath is URGENCY, because every tune has been baked in an oven of fast moving atomic dirge! PROTESTANT kicks out the jams with conviction and you know from jump street that these humans are on a mission to make you take notice of what they have to say. They will punch you in the grill with their lyrical content, and you will be able to relate to what this band has to say, plus their singer is fucking sick as a man-eating virus! PROTESTANT do this call and response between the rhythm section and the vocalist, which makes for very interesting flurries of chaotic melody. Not only do you hear the vocalist’s passion, but musically they lay down the emotional law as well. The guitar and drumming on Stalemate speak a language of sorrow and pain that I find compelling. This is evident on many of the tracks, just have a listen to “Prot a2” – in the middle of the song, when you hear the breakdown, you will hear exactly where I’m coming from. Another extra rad song is “Prot b6,” it starts off with a killer somber intro, before becoming a metallic hardcore killing machine. PROTESTANT creates music that the whole world needs to hear, they compose the kind of angst that could heal a nation. For all of the West Coast, stay tuned because CVLT Nation will be announcing their tour dates NOW after the jump!!
