Blackened Crust

Run with the Hunted
DARK HORSE
Review

Damn, every day is a fun day when you get music from young bands that just straight push your wig back and bring the motherfucking ruckus. One such band hails from Sydney, and go by the name of DARK HORSE. Their 8-song demo is packed with the right kind of gusto, and these humans can kick out the jams. DARK HORSE paints hardcore with a brand new brush dipped into their own bucket of metallic crust. Their tunes will take you on a gnarly ride of caustic melody that will have your head moving to their sick groove. “Slow Motion Train Wreck” is a perfect hardcrust composition that has the teeth to eat your nails down to the bone. DARK HORSE’s vocalist hits the bullseye not only with his delivery, but also with the lyrical content. Even their intro is catchy as fuck, and is the right lead into their song “No One There,” which is 2:32 minutes of righteous mayhem. These dudes know how to stay in the pocket, and while doing so they put you in a headlock with their songwriting, but just when think you have their songs figured out, they change the pace. As musicians, DARK HORSE are not to be fucked with – so many drum beats will punch you in the face, don’t be surprised if you get a nose bleed after listening to this demo. This demo has so much brain-numbing conviction, you’ll ask yourself, why isn’t this band signed? The riffs on songs like “Run with the Hunted” will almost deafen you with all of the white noise you will be exposed too. After repeated sonic blasts from this demo, my face still contorts with amazement. I need your help – if you are reading this, and like this band as much as I do, spread the word and download their demo HERE!
