When President Obama went to Columbia for the Sixth Summit of the Americas, the American mainstream news media was there to tell us exactly what happened at this meeting of the heads of the Americas – the secret service got off with Columbian prostitutes. Besides that, nothing really happened, right? Actually, the meeting focused on the US drug policy both nationally and internationally, and one of the major initiatives arising from the summit was a request by the heads of states in the OAS that the UN review its ban on drugs. Furthermore, Brazil, Colombia, and Uruguay discussed their own initiatives to decriminalize drugs in their countries, and Guatemalan president Otto Perez Molina openly advocated for the global legalization of drugs. All of the countries present confronted the US president for the brutal War on Drugs that has ravaged not only American communities, but also the countries of Central and South America. Even US puppet Felipe Calderon hinted at legalization when he called for “consuming” countries like the US to find ways of cutting the profits of the organized criminals and cartels. But all we heard about on mainstream media was the hot Columbian prostitutes. Luckily, there are media sources that still attempt to bring the real story, and one of our favorites is Submedia.tv, whose most recent episode, Ride the Taco, talks about the recent election, the drug war and how the US elite are literally invested in the conflicts occurring in Latin America. Check out Ride the Taco after the jump…
