Apocalyptic Blues

Progression…WHITEHORSE Review

Heavy is sound, heavy is doom, heavy is serene, heavy is space, heavy is motherfucking Whitehorse & their epic release Progression. This album is a UFO created by cosmic riffs that have the power to elevate your mind & spirit to other planes of existence. At times, Whitehorse makes me feel like I’m meditating with the demons in the dark places of my mind. The vocals on this album are blackened to the max & sound very poisonous. With Progression, Whitehorse creates apocalyptic blues that empower me to stand firm against the urban nothingness that plagues humanity. Their use of effects on Progression at times makes me feel the insects that are crawling inside their doom-laden grooves. There is also a layer of haunting space that sounds rad. Whitehorse’s guitar playing sounds like slow moving lava that burns a hole into your psyche with every listen. I think my bones are breaking – no it’s just the pounding of their drumming against my skeleton. What I really love about their music is the freedom it gives to the listener to express themselves. Whitehorse has taken a genre that they dig & flipped it on its’ head to make a kick-ass album. After the jump, check out some stellar flicks by Joe Dunn & some intense live video footage.
