I could not understand a word that WRETCHED & RAW POWER were screaming in my young ears, all I knew is that I loved these two Italian bands and wanted to hear more from their scene. MRR international scene reports were our internet, and kept us connected to the growing global hardcore scene. Also, living in L.A., we were lucky and had GOLDENVOICE as our major punk show promoter, and they could afford to fly bands over for shows. This how I got to see RAW POWER, BGK, SUBHUMANS and others, but what was behind the scenes in the European or Italian punk scenes was still a mystery to us until the internet came into existence and people started sharing their photos with the world. Today, CVLT Nation wants to share with you portraits of 80’s Italian Punk culture!

Holy Shit !!! Amazing photos and thanks so much for posting them. My name is Ned Brewster and I was on tour with Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers around 1986 or 1987, when I was drumming for False Prophets. They were the best guys and put on a fucking righteous show. Really funny guys, non stop joking with each other in pure Italian style. Antonio shaved his head and the Alex and Sandro called him “Masai” a put his bracelets and necklaces on the floor in a design, then they bowed down and “worshipped” it. Antonio got pissed, then got over it. This went on all the time. The old school bus they were traveling in was where I spent the majority of the tour and saved me from riding the extremely airless and cramped van that the Prophets were driving. 5 people and all our equipment and clothes in a normal size van got old quick not to mention ripe after a couple weeks. I ended up in the hospital with pericarditis and Alex ended up playing for CCM and the FP’s. Those guys even visited me to see how I was. The fucking best guys ever. Sandro ended up staying at my house in Staten Island too. CCM were great guys and an amazing band. I hope they’re all doing well these days. Thanks again for firing up my memories of a great time for music and connecting with the other freaks of nature out there.
