After introducing an amazing German band to all you American/English/Asian/South American/Wherethefuckever sickos int the name of Deathrite I think it’ll be fair enough to drop another name: NOEM. They sound a lot different to Deathrite of course, but nonetheless amazing. At least if your favourite Black Flag records were recorded after 1981.
It’s really amazing to see how many different bands were influenced by Black Flag. Basically there are two camps: The bands that worship (and copy) the early output of Flag up until Damaged, and countless noise-affiliated bands from the Melvins to Nirvana to Pissed Jeans which show a clear reference to the late output of Black Flag, starting with the b-side of My War. Like mentioned above, NOEM definetely belong to the second bunch of bands.
These guitars… like madness set to music these riffs crawl out of the rills of this record, through your skinny feet up to your ears and into your empty head. Besides all these sick “melodies” NOEM don’t forget about their Hardcore roots and deliver some pretty heavy parts as well that please the headbanger in me. Super pissed vocals complete the amazing instrumentation and make a really decent record. The lyrics are quite weird at some points, but that’s just fine. Not everybody is a Jello Biafra, you know?
Listen to Eggs and Panic:
NOEM just released a 12″ EP and will record a full length record in July this year.
