One scene that is overlooked in Los Angeles is the Paisley Underground, which gave the world bands like the Rain Parade, The Dream Syndicate, Pandora’s, The Three O’clock and many more. I remember how these bands were on the bills with punk and hardcore bands. In my opinion, the most important musical byproduct of this era was Santa Monica’s Mazzy Star. Hope Sandoval’s voice will always be linked to the early 90’s and she offered all of us the best comedown music. There is something so warm about the way she sings, but at the same time it sounds like she is serenading the ghosts in the cemetery. Today CVLT Nation salutes a piece of sonic history, Mazzy Star, with a video essay featuring live footage and other visuals…Follow us down the Ghost Highway and peep everything after the jump!
